When your dog is at the end of their leash pulling in front of you towards a distraction rather than tugging on the leash to bring them back, you can walk your hands down the leash to their collar and then pivot in front of them to manage the tight leash and the distraction.
How to Teach:
- Start with your dog in front of you, and you standing behind them at the end of the leash.
- You can use a station to help keep your dog in the location in front of you.
- Walk your hands down their leash until you reach their collar. This brings you to your dog instead of pulling your dog to you.
- Once you are at their collar pivot your body in front of them.
