We recommend using the 3 Second Game as a way to pet your pup. This is a method for engaging with our dog that helps us to understand what they’re comfortable with. It allows your dog to communicate with you their feelings on the interaction. This builds trust between you and your dog. Additionally, playing this game will enhance your ability to read your dog.
How to Play:
- Pet your dog for 3 seconds and then stop and see what their response is.
- If your dog stays with you or leans into you for more petting repeat step 1.
- If your dog looks away, displays other displacement behaviors, or gets up and walks away stop petting your dog and the game ends.
